Acworth was incorporated in 1860 and prospered as a railroad town. It is located 35 miles Northwest of Atlanta and is convenient to both Interstate 75 and Highway 41. It is surrounded by two lakes (Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth) hence the nickname "The Lake City". Acworth is full of history and charm. Acworth's Main Street is part of the famed Dixie Highway that originally extended from Ontario, CA to Miami, FL. Acworth is part of the Main Street America program.
